The maintenance of a passenger car no older than 10 years in Russia costs an average of 102 thousand rubles per year. Avito Auto experts told Izvestia about this on May 19.

The calculations took into account fuel costs with an average annual mileage of 13.7 thousand km, the cost of the CTP policy, transport tax and one maintenance per year. The study was based on car sales ads posted on the platform in the first quarter of 2026.

The lowest cost of ownership was recorded for the Skoda Rapid and Lada Granta models — about 79 thousand rubles per year. This is followed by Ford Focus and Volkswagen Polo — 82 thousand rubles, Hyundai Solaris and Kia Rio — 83 thousand rubles each, Datsun on-DO — about 84 thousand rubles per year and Lada Priora — 85 thousand rubles.

The top 10 also includes Skoda Octavia with a cost of ownership of 86 thousand rubles, Lada Vesta and XRay — 87 thousand rubles each, Geely Coolray — 89 thousand rubles, Kia Ceed, Mazda 6 and Renault Logan — about 90 thousand rubles per year, as well as Renault Sandero — 91 thousand rubles.

Kia Picanto (71 thousand rubles) and BMW 1 series (74 thousand rubles), Ford Fiesta and Mazda 3 (78 thousand rubles), Audi A3 (8 thousand rubles), Lifan X50 (82 thousand rubles) and Volkswagen Golf (83 thousand rubles).

"Operating costs can vary significantly even for cars that are close in price. We see that at the top of the rating are affordable models with small-displacement engines, easy to maintain and with a well-developed network of service centers. Such models are widely represented on the secondary market, and the car itself retains good liquidity for further resale in the future," said Andrey Tumkin, Managing Director of Avtoteka.

Experts also found that the average cost of ownership varies markedly across manufacturing countries. The lowest rates were recorded for domestic brands (about 92 thousand rubles per year) and Korean brands (96 thousand rubles). German brands showed the highest average cost of maintenance (about 122 thousand rubles).

Regional peculiarities also affect the cost of ownership: if in the Volga region and the central part of Russia the average cost of owning a car is 94-98 thousand rubles, then in the northern and Far Eastern regions it exceeds 110 thousand rubles. In Kamchatka and the Magadan region, the figure exceeds 120-130 thousand rubles.

Earlier, on May 16, it was reported that accident-free cars in the Russian secondary market are most often found among cars with a hybrid power plant: cars without accidents occupied 88% of the market in this segment. The most trouble-free brands were Lynk & Co, Hyundai, Geely, Toyota and Porsche.
