Sobyanin spoke about the development of medical AI services in Moscow
Over the past six years, 200 medical services based on artificial intelligence (AI) have been tested in Moscow, 67 of them have been implemented in medical institutions, Mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin said in the Maks messenger.
Moscow is Russia's largest center for the development and expertise of medical AI technologies, the head of the capital emphasized in his personal blog. "We are creating the medicine of the future, the one that was previously considered fiction," Sobyanin wrote.
So, in 2025, according to the mayor, new services for the diagnosis of multiple fractures of the ankle, wrist and shoulder joints have been launched in the capital. Artificial intelligence has also been used in medical institutions to detect osteoarthritis.
In 2024, on behalf of President Vladimir Putin, the MosMedIA digital platform for analyzing medical images was created in Moscow. The development has given the country's medical organizations access to 18 AI radiology diagnostic services in the capital. Three algorithms work with mammography, fluorography, and chest X-rays, as well as computed tomography of the brain, and five AI services specialize in analyzing CT scans of chest organs. In April 2026, an AI service for diagnosing scoliosis by X-ray of the spine was launched.
In two years, more than 2,000 medical organizations from 75 regions have joined MosMedIA, including two federal centers, the Almazov National Research Medical Center and the Kuban State Medical University. "For the regions, connecting to the MosMedIA platform means access to capital—level expertise without the need to expand the staff of highly specialized specialists," the mayor said.
