The Russian car market showed stable results in mid-May

Last week, the Russian car market again showed sales slightly above the mark of 25 thousand new passenger cars. Despite a decrease of 3% compared to the previous week, this result can be considered stable, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, said in his Telegram channel on May 18.

In the passenger car segment, sales showed an increase of 12.4% compared to the same week last year, while in other segments the figures decreased.

Thus, sales of light commercial vehicles (LCVs up to 3.5 tons) showed a decrease of 19.2% compared to the previous week and by 28.8% compared to the 20th week of last year. Also, only 838 trucks (MCVs+HCVs) were registered, which is 4.1% lower than the previous week and 18% lower year-on-year.

At the same time, 2,383 new motorcycles were registered in the motorcycle segment during the week, which is 7.4% more than a week earlier and 17.9% higher than the result of the same week last year.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that stocks of new passenger cars had decreased in Russia. By mid-May, the stock of dealers and distributors amounted to less than 400 thousand units, while a year ago at the same time they were estimated at 500 thousand units.
