Moscow and Beijing intend to continue to promote bilateral relations to a higher level. This was announced on May 18 by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Guo Jiakun.
"Taking this opportunity, the parties intend to further advance bilateral relations to a deeper and higher level, bringing more stability and positive energy to the world," he said.
Commenting on the upcoming visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to China, Guo Jiakun stressed that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Russian partnership and strategic relations, as well as the 25th anniversary of the signing of the treaty on good neighborliness, friendship and cooperation.
Earlier in the day, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev said that Russia's regions have potential for cooperation with China. According to him, the main prospects lie in the fields of agriculture, energy and tourism.
In his welcoming speech to the participants of the Russian-Chinese Expo in Harbin on May 17, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that bilateral cooperation between Russia and China is expanding and yielding fruitful results. He added that the event would provide Moscow and Beijing with an opportunity to take advantage of the two countries' good neighborliness both to facilitate entrepreneurship and expand comprehensive cooperation and socio-economic development of both countries.
