Over the past weekend, high activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was recorded around the Power Plant and the facilities of the Zaporizhia NPP, in particular, Ukrainian militants fired at the station's transport workshop. This was announced on May 18 by Evgenia Yashina, Director of Communications at ZAES.

"As for the ZAES transport workshop, it is this unit that provides critical logistics and internal operation of the plant <...>. Probably, the enemy considers such facilities as an element of pressure on the stability of the plant and the life of the satellite city," she said in an interview with TASS.

According to Yashina, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to attack the Energodar and the territory of the NPP not only to cause damage, but also to exert psychological pressure on the plant staff. She added that the enemy is attacking the Energy Depot and the area of the station site almost constantly, both with the help of artillery and drones.

The Director of Communications also said that the leadership of the NPP will demonstrate to the experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) the place of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack on the transport workshop when the operational situation allows.

On May 17, the ZAES press service reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had fired artillery at the station's transport workshop. The roof of the building and buses for transporting personnel were damaged. There were no casualties as a result of the incident, there was no fire. In addition, a drone attack on the Raduga substation was recorded

The mayor of Energodar, Maxim Pukhov, announced on the same day that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had hit a kindergarten in the city with a drone. He noted that the windows were damaged, and there are debris on the territory of the institution.
