- Manufacturers noted the popularity of Russian chocolate and wines at the EXPO in China
Russian chocolate and wines are highly popular among Chinese visitors to the X Russian-Chinese EXPO, which takes place from May 17 to 21 in Harbin. Representatives of exporting companies told Izvestia about this.
"Bitter chocolate is the most popular, that is, it is chocolate with a high content of cocoa beans. We have made a unique line directly for China with a cocoa content of up to 95%," said Vitaly Tsoi, Deputy Export Director of United Confectioners Holding.
Tsoi also added that for Chinese customers, the Alyonka brand has become a household name for Russian chocolate and Russian exports.
"Chinese consumers like Russian wines. In particular, these are semi-sweet red wines. But now the focus is shifting to sparkling, brandy, and dry red wines. <...> And familiarity is important, and promotion is important in order to earn consumers' trust. This is a difficult process, but we are more or less succeeding," said Mikhail Lelyuk, head of the Fanagoria export business.
He said that a special feature of exports to China is the special attention of local buyers to the packaging of the product. According to him, packaging can often cost more than the product itself, which Russian companies have to adapt to.
Earlier in the day, in his address to the participants of the exhibition in Harbin, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian-Chinese EXPO provides an opportunity for a direct and meaningful dialogue between representatives of business, government agencies and regions. According to the Russian leader, the rich program of the exhibition fully reflects the high dynamics of strategic cooperation and partnership between Moscow and Beijing.
Natalia Virtuozova, General Director of the Rossiya National Center (NC), said at the same time that clothes with quotes from the President of Russia were in high demand among Chinese visitors to the X Russian-Chinese EXPO in Harbin. The demand for items with prints in Russian turned out to be so significant that representatives of the Russian delegation expressed concerns about a possible shortage of imported products.
