Among the residents of Austria who are interested in traveling in Russia, many spend up to several months traveling. This was announced on May 17 by Consul General of the Russian Federation in Salzburg Dmitry Cherkashin.

"They spend several months in Russia, then they come back and talk about their experiences not only to us, but also to the Austrians themselves, organize meetings and share their impressions of Russia. We only welcome such initiatives," he told RIA Novosti.

It is noted that some tourists try to travel through Russia by bike or walk around it. For example, one of the Austrians traveled around Russia for more than six months on a bicycle. He didn't even have enough visa for 90 days, as a result of which the man was forced to return to Austria and return to Russia a year later.

"At first, he was given a visa for 90 days, but it was not enough. He had to leave, apply for a new visa and return to Russia the following year, where he continued his journey all the way to the Far East and Kamchatka," Cherkashin said.

Cherkashin also reported on May 2 that over the past year, the demand for visas to Russia has increased significantly among Austrians. The diplomat clarified that the entire process of obtaining a visa for Austrian citizens takes four days. A prior invitation from Russia is not required for this.
