The condition of the oral cavity affects not only the beauty of a smile, but also the health of the entire body. Maxim Labukhin, dentist, medical director of the MIA.RF clinic network, told about this on May 17.

He noted that the most common dental problems are caries, pulpitis and periodontitis. Their development is associated with bacteria and inflammatory processes in the mouth, which can trigger a chain of negative reactions in the body. If you do not pay attention to treatment, it can lead to diseases of the heart, gastrointestinal tract, and even difficulties in communication.

"Gum disease, like periodontitis, can lead to atherosclerosis, stroke, and hypertension. This happens because bacteria from the oral cavity enter the bloodstream and spread throughout the body. In general, bacteria enter the body constantly when chewing or brushing teeth. But, in a healthy person, the immune system quickly neutralizes them. But the bacteria that have been inflamed for years often attack the gums and cause pathologies," the doctor warned in an interview with <url>.

Constant toothache, tooth decay, or missing teeth make it difficult to chew food. As a result, the stomach and intestines are forced to work with increased stress, which can lead to digestive disorders, Labukhin noted. Pathogenic microbes from diseased teeth enter the intestines, destroy beneficial bacteria, destroy the intestinal walls and contribute to the ingestion of toxins into the body. According to the expert, this is manifested by heaviness, bloating, heartburn and can lead to gastritis or ulcers. Sometimes people have been treating gastritis for years, unaware that its cause is periodontitis.

Labukhin also said that chronic pain, sensitivity to cold and hot, and bad breath cause stress, disrupt sleep, reduce self-confidence, and can lead to anxiety or depression. The person begins to avoid communication, smiles less often and feels uncomfortable. This makes it difficult for both work and personal contacts.

In addition, toxins from microbes and bacteria on teeth can enter the brain through the blood, affecting not only the metabolism, but also the production of hormones responsible for a good mood. As a result, a person with gum disease often feels apathy and loss of strength.

"As a result, dental care is not only about appearance, but about overall health. According to dentists, chronic infections in the oral cavity slowly but surely destroy the heart, spoil digestion and poison the mood," concluded Labukhin.

The doctor also said on May 8 that aligners have become one of the most popular technologies in modern orthodontics due to their aesthetics and convenience. Transparent mouth guards are almost invisible on the teeth and allow you to adjust the bite without using metal structures.
