The USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier has returned to its base in Norfolk, Virginia, after 11 months at sea and participating in operations against Iran. This was reported on the website of the press service of the United States Naval Institute.

"The aircraft carrier returned to the Naval base in Norfolk on Saturday," the publication said.

In total, the ship was at sea for 326 days. Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth arrived in Norfolk to meet the aircraft carrier and its crew, which consists of 4,500 sailors.

The aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78), just like the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) and George H.W. Bush (CVN 77), was involved in the simultaneous transfer of 15,000 American soldiers to the Middle East. Representatives of the central command of the US Armed Forces, reporting on April 24, stated that such operations had not been carried out since 2003.
