According to Beijing, the European authorities are demanding cooperation from Chinese banks and requesting a large amount of data not directly related to investigations, which "affects the normal operations of companies in Europe."

Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of Southeastern Norway, said on April 26 that the new EU sanctions against Russia are dragging Brussels into a conflict with China.

On April 23, the head of the European Council, Antonio Costa, announced the approval of the 20th package of sanctions against Russia. As part of another package of restrictions, the European regulator has blacklisted six organizations from China. In turn, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China promised to protect Chinese companies that have fallen under EU sanctions.

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, and Zoltan Koshkovich, an analyst at the Hungarian Center for Fundamental Rights, also spoke about the consequences of sanctions against China for the EU on April 26, calling the Brussels leadership "fanatics" in his message.
