Chinese President Xi Jinping mentioned Russian President Vladimir Putin during a conversation with US President Donald Trump at the Zhongnanhai residence. This was reported on May 15 by The New York Times (NYT).

"Trump interrupted the tour to ask if Xi often brings foreign leaders to Zhongnanhai. "Very rarely," Xi Jinping replied, shaking his head for emphasis. He pointed to Trump and said with a smile, "For example, Putin was here," referring to the president of Russia, Beijing's closer partner.
