The appointment of the new Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), which is expected this year, provides opportunities for positive changes and "restoring order" in the organization. This was stated on May 15 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting of the BRICS Council of Foreign Ministers.
"The election of a new Secretary General will take place this year. His replacement opens up a real opportunity to restore order in the world organization. Or so, it does not give a real opportunity, but some kind of chance. We understand the realities perfectly," the diplomat said.
