The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation allowed former Judge Suprun to be prosecuted.

​The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has agreed to hold Alexander Suprun, a retired judge of the Fourth Court of Cassation, accountable. This was reported on May 15 in the supreme court.

Suprun will be prosecuted under Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation for minor hooliganism.

"The Supreme Court of Russia has considered the idea of bringing a retired judge of the Fourth Court of Cassation to administrative responsibility under Part 2 of Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (minor hooliganism involving disobedience to the lawful request of a government official or another person acting to protect public order). The supreme court has agreed to bring Suprun to administrative responsibility," the court's press service told TASS.

It is noted that this incident has nothing to do with the performance of his judicial duties during work.

According to the department, Suprun, being in a public place, violated public order: he allowed obscene expressions, grabbed medical workers by the uniform while helping him, tried to provoke a conflict, and also ignored the demands of police officers to show documents and stop illegal actions.

The sanction will be from 15 thousand to 30 thousand rubles.

Turgunboy Zokirov, an assistant at the L. L. Popov Department of Administrative Law and Procedure at the O. E. Kutafin University, said on April 22 that using obscenities in public places could result in a fine of up to 1,000 rubles or arrest for up to 15 days. The expert explained that swearing in public places qualifies as minor hooliganism in accordance with Part 1 of Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Minor hooliganism"). According to him, administrative responsibility for such offenses begins at the age of 16. Protocols are drawn up by police officers who also handle similar cases.
