Russia handed over to Ukraine four residents of the Sumy region, who had previously been evacuated from the war zone. This was announced on May 15 by the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Yana Lantratova.

"Four residents of the Sumy region who found themselves in the war zone went to Ukraine," the ombudsman wrote in her channel in the Maks messenger.

Lantratova added that the citizens were under the protection of Russia in temporary accommodation facilities in the Kursk region. She also pointed out that letters from captured Russian soldiers to their relatives had been handed over from the Ukrainian side.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russia had returned 205 soldiers from Ukrainian captivity, and in return, 205 prisoners of war of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were transferred. After that, the Russian fighters were taken to Belarus, where they received assistance. Later, the plane carrying the soldiers who returned home landed in the Moscow region.
