The Finnish national team won the opening match at the Hockey World Cup

The Finnish national team defeated the German team in the opening match of the group stage of the World Hockey Championship. The first meeting in Group A ended 3-1.

Anton Lundell scored goals for the Finnish team (in the ninth minute), Esse Puljärvi (in the 44th) and Aatu Ryatu (in the 56th). Stefan Leubl scored the only point for the German national team (in the 49th minute).

Finland will next play on May 16 against Hungary, and Germany will face Latvia on May 17.
