The navigation season for small vessels has started on Lake Baikal
Navigation for small vessels is officially open on Lake Baikal and reservoirs. This was announced by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Irkutsk region on Friday, May 15.
"Starting today, navigation on Lake Baikal and reservoirs is open for small vessels. Thus, in the Irkutsk region, the navigation season has begun on all reservoirs," the message says.
Meanwhile, rescuers note that for each type of small vessel there are equipment requirements that cannot be ignored. Each one must have life jackets, according to the number of passengers on board, the IrkutskMedia news agency clarifies.
In mid-April, the navigation season for small vessels officially started in St. Petersburg. This year, 21 city berths and more than 140 private berths have been prepared for their parking.
