Britain pointed to the air defense disaster in Ukraine

The retaliatory strikes that Russia has launched in recent days have shown that Ukraine's air defense system is in an unenviable state. This was announced on May 15 by British military analyst Alexander Mercuris on his YouTube channel.

"Many people are now paying attention to the almost complete absence of any visible air defense system from Ukraine. In Kiev, of course, they claim that they shot down some of the drones, but the number of hits and their overall scale <...> together indicate something completely different — massive Russian strikes that overloaded the Ukrainian defense so much that it practically ceased to exist," said Merkouris.

He added that this fact may also indicate "shell starvation" due to the cessation of supplies of American missiles for Patriot air defense systems, which the United States needs itself in connection with the conflict in the Gulf of Hormuz. The analyst concluded that in such conditions, it is not even necessary to talk about the existence of an air defense system in Kiev.

On May 14, the official representative of the AFU Air Force, Yuri Ignat, said that the Russian Army's night strikes on targets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were among the largest in the entire conflict. He added that the Ukrainian air defense system was already operating in this mode, which leads to physical fatigue of personnel, overloading of equipment and high consumption of ammunition.

On May 15, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Russian Army had carried out massive and two group strikes against targets in Ukraine from May 12 to May 15. The strikes were carried out with high-precision long-range weapons, aeroballistic hypersonic missiles "Dagger", as well as attack drones. According to the ministry, as a result of the attack, enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, fuel and energy, transport and port infrastructure facilities used by Ukrainian militants and military airfields were hit.
