Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay an official visit to the United States in the fall at the invitation of American President Donald Trump. This was announced on May 15 by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

"At the invitation of President Trump, President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to the United States this fall," the minister said on the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Wang Yi also stressed that both sides should carefully prepare for the meeting of the two heads of state in order to create "a suitable atmosphere and achieve further success."
