The Festival of Classical Music in Suzdal is a festival of favorite works by performers. This is how Denis Matsuev, People's Artist of Russia, described the upcoming open-air classical music festival in Russia on May 15.

"Usually, when I talk to famous musicians, I ask: "What would you like to play?" This is necessary to perform a piece with which the musician is currently having a hypnotic love affair," Matsuev said.

At the same time, the pianist noted that at the festival, musicians try to avoid repeating works whenever possible. According to him, the process of making a program is "mysterious" in its own way: in addition to thinking about what the musicians have in mind, it is necessary to reflect on the audience.

The main goal is to give listeners a variety of genres, including new works that were not seen at last year's festival, not forgetting the masterpieces of classical composers.

The second summer festival in Suzdal will be held from July 10 to July 19, 2026. The new stage will host eight concerts of academic and jazz music with the participation of Matsuev, leading Russian ensembles, world-renowned soloists and rising stars of the performing arts. The opening is preceded by the opera "War and Peace". The main roles are performed by soloists of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theaters.

On August 22, the festival of Slavic art "Russian Field" will be held on Poklonnaya Gora in Moscow. It is expected that this year about 2 thousand people will take part in the event, and at least 150 thousand will be guests of the festival. There will be several themed festival venues in total. The ceremonial part will be held on the main stage: artists, choral and dance groups will perform in front of the guests.
