- Trump pointed to requests from third countries to the United States for a cease-fire with Iran.
The United States imposed a ceasefire with Iran at the request of third countries, not on its own initiative. This was announced on May 15 by US President Donald Trump.
"We have indeed concluded a ceasefire agreement at the request of other countries. I would not support him, but we did it out of kindness to Pakistan, with the participation of wonderful people, the field marshal and the prime minister [of this country]," he said.
Trump once again stressed that the US Armed Forces allegedly completely destroyed the Iranian army, but after a long truce that still lasts between the countries, the Americans may have to "restore order there." He added that he agreed to a cease-fire only because the United States is conducting an incredibly effective naval blockade of Iran, thanks to which, according to the head of the White House, the Islamic Republic is losing about $500 million a day.
During an interview with Fox News on May 14, Trump said he had given Iran a choice: make a deal or be completely destroyed. According to the American president, he initially decided to stop attacks on Iranian territories solely due to requests from states that maintain good relations with Tehran.
On the same day, the American president announced on his page on the Truth Social network that the United States intends to continue conducting military operations against Iran.
