There have been 274 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.

Over the past day, 274 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 28 people were killed and 310 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on May 15 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

19 accidents involving buses were recorded, as a result of which 20 road users, including one child, required medical assistance. 10 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.

As a result of 71 accidents involving pedestrians, 30 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 41 outside their area of operation, three people were killed, and 71 more pedestrians were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 20 child pedestrians, 13 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.

In addition, 52 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which one child was killed and 56 young road users were injured, including 14 child passengers and five motor transport drivers.

So, in the Kaliningrad region, in the evening, on 9 km of the Kaliningrad Southern Bypass highway, a 20-year-old driver of a foreign car with two years of driving experience crashed into a car in the middle lane, which stopped due to a technical malfunction. As a result of the accident, a six-year-old passenger of the stopped vehicle was killed, who was in the back seat on the left in a child restraint and wearing a seat belt. Another minor passenger, aged 13, was injured and hospitalized. Both drivers were injured and, after receiving medical treatment, were sent for outpatient treatment.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded drivers of the need to comply with safety measures when a vehicle is forced to stop due to a technical malfunction.

"In such cases, it is necessary to immediately turn on the alarm system, put up an emergency stop sign and take all possible measures to divert the car off the roadway, especially on high-speed sections of roads. Passengers, including children, should leave the vehicle and stay in a safe place off the roadway until the malfunction is fixed or help arrives. When getting out of the car, the driver must wear a reflective vest," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for promoting Road safety and preventing child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

On that day, it was reported that the State Duma rejected a bill on amendments to the Administrative Code, which proposed to consolidate administrative responsibility for violations of the average speed if it is recorded by traffic cameras.
