The IMF will send a mission to Ukraine to assess reforms and the tax base

Staff of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will visit Ukraine in the near future to assess progress in implementing economic reforms and expanding the tax base under the $8.1 billion loan agreement. Ukrainska Pravda writes about this on May 15 with reference to the foundation's press secretary, Julie Kozak.

In her opinion, Kiev should "expand the tax base and bring part of the shadow economy out of the shadows into the official sector." In addition, the IMF representative noted that the Ukrainian authorities should make more financial efforts to cover their needs, despite the large-scale package of financial assistance from outside.

The fund stressed that the reforms provided for in the loan program are necessary not only to obtain financing, "but also to promote Ukraine's membership in the European Union."

Yermak, the former head of the presidential office, was arrested in Kiev.

In February, the IMF approved an $8.1 billion loan to Ukraine as part of a new four-year financial support program.

Later, Kiev received the first tranche from the IMF in the amount of $ 1.5 billion. The head of the Ukrainian government, Yulia Sviridenko, noted that the funds "will be used to finance priority budget expenditures and support macro-financial stability."
