Lavrov stated the intention of the Russian Federation and India to increase the supply of Russian hydrocarbons

The authorities of Russia and India are determined to increase the supply of Russian hydrocarbons, and also note the successful cooperation in the field of peaceful atom. This was stated on May 15 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference following the meetings of the BRICS foreign ministers in New Delhi.

He noted that during the talks with his Indian counterpart Subramaniam Jaishankar, ways to improve the mechanisms of interaction between the two countries were considered. They also discussed the further development of trade, economic and investment cooperation so that both countries would be less dependent on the negative impact of third countries.

"We have a common intention to increase the supply of Russian hydrocarbons and fertilizers. Cooperation in the field of peaceful atom is developing very successfully, as well as in the field of peaceful space exploration," Lavrov said.

The Russian Foreign Minister clarified that during the recent Russian-Indian talks, the parties also discussed the possibility of providing Russia with a new site for the construction of several more nuclear power plant units.

At a meeting with Lavrov on May 13, Jaishankar noted that cooperation between Russia and India has shown steady growth over the past few years. Its economic and energy components have become even more important, the diplomat said.

In turn, Lavrov said that relations between India and Russia are so rich and diverse that they cannot be destroyed. He recalled that friendship between the states began with India's independence. From the very beginning, Indian leaders visited the USSR, and the leaders of the Soviet Union visited India, which laid a solid foundation in the form of trusting personal relations between the countries.
