Football fans set fire to the office of the Prime Minister of Libya in Tripoli

In the Libyan capital Tripoli, riots by football fans escalated into large-scale clashes, during which participants set fire to the office of the country's prime minister. This was reported on May 15 by the Xinhua news Agency, citing local media.

It is noted that initially riots broke out in the stands of the stadium during a match between the football clubs (FC) Al-Ittihad and Al-Suwaihli.

"The riots then spread to several districts of the capital, accompanied by reports of gunfire and an increased security presence. Some protesters set fire to part of the building of the Prime Minister's office in Tripoli, and security forces and military were deployed around government offices and main roads to contain the situation," the publication says.
