Saudi Arabia has discussed the idea of concluding a non-aggression pact between Middle Eastern states and Iran as part of negotiations with allies on how to resolve regional tensions after the end of the US-Israeli war with the Islamic Republic. This was reported on May 14 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper.

Two Western diplomats said that Riyadh is considering as a potential model the Helsinki Process of the 1970s, which eased tensions in Europe during the Cold War, as the region expects Iran to weaken after the war but still pose a threat to its neighbors.
