Amateur fishing of Kamchatka crab allowed in Murmansk region
The Kamchatka crab fishing season began in May on the territory of the Kola Arctic. It will last until December 31, according to the Tourist Information Center of the Murmansk region.
Eight sites are available for crab mining. Three of them are located in Teriberskaya Bay, one more on the Long Gap Bay — Malonemetskaya Zapadnaya Bay, Medvezhye Bay, on Maly Oleny Island, on Cape Yarnyshny and Svyatonosky Bay.
For amateur crabbing, you need to get a special permit. Also, the fisherman must have with him a passport or other identification document and documents for the right to operate the vessel.
The commercial size of the Kamchatka crab should be at least 15 cm. It is determined fresh by measuring the largest width of the carapace (carapace) without taking into account the thorns.
According to the Bi-port news agency, catching of females and young individuals with a carapace size of less than 15 cm is prohibited. They must be released into their natural habitat with minimal damage.
Crabs can be obtained with special fishing implements or crab conical traps. All guns with a net must be registered with the North Sea Territorial Administration of the Federal Fisheries Agency.
Earlier, Izvestia wrote that the Kola Peninsula has become a tourist hit. Travelers are attracted by alien landscapes, animals from atlases and children's books, as well as the famous Arctic cuisine.
