On May 14, Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Oksana Lut, Minister of Agriculture, and Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, got acquainted with the progress of the comprehensive reconstruction of the Central Moscow Hippodrome.

"It is indeed a very long-awaited object. Work began in [20]24, and if we take the preparatory stage, we can say that we have been doing this work since [20]21. We have reached the final straight, and I hope that everything will be completed on time. It will be very important for us to check the athletic qualities of horses here, including international competitions. And, of course, there has never been such a high-level racetrack in the Russian Federation. We have a lot of competitions ahead of us. And I think it will be a great gift for both equestrians and professionals when all this happens. I will say that as part of our activities, within the framework of the large organization "Rosippodromes" until [2035], we will try to restore about 13 more of our hippodromes in our image and likeness. And the benchmark, of course, will be what we, together with Moscow, together with Sergei Semenovich [Sobyanin], will do here," Patrushev said.

The Central Moscow Hippodrome was opened in 1834. It is the oldest racetrack in Europe and the first in the world to host trotting races. Today it is the most important facility for the development of domestic horse breeding. The complex reconstruction started in 2024. As part of the reconstruction, the racetrack will have a modern infrastructure: new stables, a veterinary unit, training tracks, laboratories for the comprehensive assessment of horses and much more.

At the end of last year, the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) allowed athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in international competitions. It was noted that in addition to participating in competitions, the federation also allowed sports tournaments to be held under the auspices of the FEI in Belarus.
