AvtoVAZ allowed the creation of an unmanned vehicle in the future
AvtoVAZ has not ruled out that it will develop an unmanned vehicle in the future. Maxim Sokolov, the head of the company, announced this on May 14 on the sidelines of the congress of the Russian Engineering Union.
"Sure, why not? The whole world is moving towards self—driving," Sokolov replied to a question about the possible appearance of an unmanned vehicle from AvtoVAZ, his words are quoted by TASS.
The head of the company explained that even in the B segment, a class of compact cars, Lada models are equipped with ADAS electronic assistants, which are designed to prevent accidents and at the same time reduce the burden on the driver.
Two years ago, Sokolov said that AvtoVAZ, together with the scientific automotive Institute of FSUE NAMI, is working on unmanned technologies, their use is possible in future Lada cars of classes C and D.
In the spring of 2024, representatives of FSUE NAMI reported that they had equipped the Lada Vesta car with an autopilot and brought it to tests on public roads, as well as conducted tests at the proving ground.
