At the plenary session on May 14, the State Duma appointed Yana Lantratova to the post of Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia. 301 deputies voted for her candidacy.
"The decision was made on a competitive basis: as a result, the candidacy of Yana Lantratova was supported by a majority of votes."
Lantratova was nominated by the Just Russia faction and supported by United Russia. Artyom Prokofiev (KPRF) and Ivan Sukharev (LDPR) also claimed the post.
Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin thanked Tatiana Moskalkova, who has held this position since 2016, for her important and great work. He expressed the hope that the new Commissioner would be guided by the same principles.
