A girl lost a finger in a kindergarten in Makhachkala. What is known

In early May 2026, an emergency occurred in one of the kindergartens in Makhachkala, as a result of which a girl lost a toe. According to the investigation, the staff of the institution tried to hide the incident, did not call an ambulance and gave the child to the parents already dressed, hiding the severed finger in tights. Criminal cases have been initiated against three kindergarten workers and a preventive measure in the form of detention has been chosen. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

The circumstances of the incident

The incident occurred on May 8, 2026 at kindergarten No. 22 in Makhachkala. According to the preliminary version, one of the pupils pinched the little finger on the girl's foot by the door. As a result of the injury, the finger began to come off. According to other sources, the teachers subsequently cut off the injured finger.

In the morning, the mother brought the child to kindergarten healthy, but after a nap, the girl was given to her parents already dressed. On the way home, the child complained of severe pain in his leg. It was only when the parents began to undress their daughter that the severed part of her finger fell out of the tights.

Actions of kindergarten staff

According to the investigation and eyewitnesses, the teachers did not call an ambulance and did not inform the parents about the incident. Moreover, they tried to hide the signs of injury by dressing the girl by putting the severed finger in tights under her foot.

Some sources claim that the child could have been given an anesthetic injection and put to sleep. Information about possible repairs in the kindergarten building is also considered as one of the versions of what happened.

Medical care

After the parents discovered the injury, the girl was urgently taken to the hospital. However, doctors were unable to sew on the severed finger, because for a successful operation, the amputated part had to be immediately placed in the cold and urgently taken to the clinic. According to the doctors, due to the late treatment, it was not possible to surgically restore the tissues. The girl was hospitalized with a diagnosis of "traumatic amputation of the little finger of the right foot." She was later discharged in a satisfactory condition.

Criminal case and arrests

The Investigative Committee has opened criminal cases under articles on the provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers (Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code), as well as negligence (Article 293 of the Criminal Code).

The Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of two months in respect of three kindergarten employees — two teachers and a nanny (in a number of sources — two teachers and the head). At the same time, one of the teachers stated that the kindergarten staff "do not have information" about the incident.

According to law enforcement agencies, the arrested kindergarten staff did not admit their guilt. The investigation is ongoing, and all the circumstances of the incident are being established.
