The Russian government will allocate about 1.8 billion rubles to flood-affected regions

The Russian government will provide about 1.8 billion rubles to the Trans-Baikal Territory, as well as the Omsk and Orenburg regions, in order to repair flood-affected roads in these regions. This was announced on May 14 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

"Let's consider the issue of supporting regions where serious floods have occurred in recent years, which have led to emergencies. <...> Now we are talking about Omsk, Orenburg regions and the Trans-Baikal Territory. <...> It is necessary to put in order the sections of highways that have been affected by rising water. These are routes of regional, inter-municipal and local importance, that is, those that people use almost around the clock. We will allocate about 1.8 billion rubles for these purposes," he said at a government meeting.

The Prime Minister appealed to representatives of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation with a request to provide the allocated funds to the designated entities in a timely manner, as well as to monitor the process of highway restoration itself. He stated that the transport infrastructure has a great impact on the economy, comfort and safety of citizens. Based on this, he pointed out the importance of paying great attention to this work.

Mishustin recalled that the regions and region listed by him had already received resources intended to compensate for their expenses for payments for the restoration or repair of housing. According to him, in addition to highways, infrastructure facilities, communications and personal property of Russian citizens were damaged.
