Igor Lyapustin, the lawyer of the head of the Melbet betting company, appealed the verdict in the fraud case, according to the materials available to Izvestia.

On April 28, the Tushinsky District Court of Moscow sentenced Lyapustin to eight years in a general regime penal colony.

The head of Melbet was detained on April 4, 2024. A criminal case was opened against him under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on an especially large scale"), on the same day the court ordered him to ban certain actions.

According to the investigation, Lyapustin illegally appropriated the bookmaker's office, which previously belonged to Alexander Gradulenko — according to the examination, the damage was estimated at about 700 million rubles.
