In Russia, the number of citizens who consider themselves Orthodox has decreased — the proportion has decreased by 1.2 times in 15 years, the Vedomosti newspaper wrote on May 14, referring to a study by the Orthodox St. Tikhon University for the Humanities.

"The overwhelming majority of Russians (65%) consider themselves Orthodox. Almost every sixth respondent (16%) does not identify himself with any religion. Only 6% of the population turned out to be atheists," the publication says.
