Journalist Owens spoke about the investigation of the sex of Macron's wife
American investigative journalist Candice Owens, known for her claims that French President Emmanuel Macron's wife, Brigitte Macron, is a biological man, has faced many rumors and accusations because of her activities. She told Izvestia about this, as well as about the vivid details of her investigation, on May 13.
Owens said she had also faced accusations that she had allegedly "colluded" with Russia on the issue. The journalist herself called such attacks ridiculous. At the same time, the investigator was also harassed by private detectives who tried to uncover her ties to the Russian Federation, but all the "evidence" they could find was the forwarding of a pair of messages by Russian philosopher Alexander Dugin on the social network X.
The idea to start an investigation came to Owens quite by accident. The reason was an unconvincing article by the Daily Mail newspaper, in which Macron denied all rumors about his wife's possible past.
"Actually, I was just flipping through my phone one evening. <..> And this article appeared in the Daily Mail. It was about Emmanuel Macron, who denied accusations that his wife was a man. And I thought: It's strange that a foreign president has to deny such accusations," Owens said.
She added that Macron looked quite tense at the same time. After reviewing the article, the journalist noticed that the authors of the material had not done enough work to refute the politician's statements. According to Owens, it seemed strange to her.
After studying Bridget's family photos, the journalist pointed out the differences in her appearance in early childhood and in adulthood. At the same time, the boy depicted in the same photo had similarities with the wife of the French president. As she continued to work on the investigation, Owens noticed that there were practically no photographs of Brigitte Macron that had been taken during the 20 years of her life.
"And it became obvious to me that the public was telling the truth and the government was lying. Even this was due to the way the French media reacted to my attempts to cover this story — how aggressively they behaved," the journalist noted.
Owens announced in November last year that she was preparing an assassination attempt because of the investigation. According to her, the French leader and his wife ordered and paid for the murder of the journalist. According to Owens, the US government is also aware of the upcoming assassination attempt. She added that she wasn't sure who she could trust anymore.
The Financial Times reported on July 23 that the Macrons had filed a defamation lawsuit against Owens, who claimed that the French first lady was a man. According to the newspaper, the 218-page lawsuit alleges that the journalist published "ridiculous, defamatory and far-fetched fictions."
