Russia has supported the reform of the UNESCO Convention against Doping in Sport. This was announced on May 13 by Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports and President of the Russian Olympic Committee, at the organization's session in Paris.

"We use the UNESCO headquarters in order to strengthen friendly ties, promote the topic of justice in sports, and the anti-doping agenda is now in full swing. Doping in sports is evil, and we have been fighting it, we are fighting it, and we will fight it," Degtyarev said on the Telegram channel.

During the UNESCO session, the Minister also discussed with his colleague from Senegal, Pierre Faye, preparations for the Youth Olympic Games, as well as cooperation between the two countries in the field of sports. The Games will be held in Dakar in the fall of 2026. The Russian national team will also go there.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on April 22 that the country would do everything to support athletes. The Head of State stressed that athletes make a significant contribution to confirming Russia's leadership position in world sports.

On March 18, Putin expressed hope that the IOC would stop discriminating against Russian athletes and stop "doing magic tricks." Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev also noted that the IOC, in his opinion, has taken a course to reduce the politicization of sports, and stressed that the Ministry of Sports continues to fight for the restoration of the rights of Russian athletes.
