Ex-Deputy Finance Minister Aleksashenko fined for discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation

Sergei Aleksashenko, former First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and former Deputy Finance Minister of Russia (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation and included in the register of terrorists and extremists), was fined 50,000 rubles for discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. This was reported to Izvestia in court on May 13.

It was established that a video recording with Aleksashenko's participation was posted on one of the Internet sites, where he made statements discrediting the army.

The economist served as Deputy Finance Minister of the Russian Federation from 1993 to 1995. From 1995 to 1998, he was the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank. Aleksashenko currently lives abroad.

In April, the Moscow court registered a case of discrediting the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation against Aleksashenko. Then the Simonovsky district court of the city received a protocol on an administrative offense. In November last year, Aleksashenko was added to the list of terrorists and extremists. In November 2023, the Interior Ministry put Aleksashenko on the wanted list.
