Igor Fomin, the lawyer of the former head of the office of Ukrainian President Andriy Ermak, got confused about the client's biography on May 13 and made the whole courtroom laugh.

The lawyer, speaking about Ermak's biography, said that he was a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Ermak, in turn, noted that he had not held this position. To the laughter of journalists and prosecutors, the former official had to explain himself exactly who he worked for.

Also, the former head of Zelensky's office said that he did not have 180 million hryvnias ($ 4.1 million) to make bail.

"I definitely don't have that kind of money, I only have what is indicated in my declaration," the Ukrainian newspaper Strana quotes him as saying.ua" in his Telegram channel.

The Politico newspaper reported on the same day that a new round of corruption scandal in Ukraine and Ermak's involvement in it cast doubt on the statements of the country's authorities about their readiness for accelerated accession to the European Union (EU).

Corruption charges were brought against Ermak and five other defendants a day earlier. The former head of the presidential office, commenting on this situation, said that he considers what is happening unfounded. The correspondent of the Welt television channel, Christoph Wanner, said on the same day that the alleged "attacks" on Ermak could be regarded as an attack on Zelensky himself.
