The Swiss authorities will consider the possibility of purchasing air defense systems from other suppliers after the United States reported a delay in the supply of Patriot systems. This was reported on May 13 by the Reuters news agency.

It is noted that Bern ordered five Patriot complexes from Washington back in 2022, hoping to receive them in 2026-2028, however, due to the conflict in the Middle East, Washington postponed the delivery time "by five to seven years."

Because of this, the Swiss government has already requested information from five other potential suppliers of similar weapons. Switzerland did not mention the names of the companies, but it was stated that these were manufacturers from Germany, France, Israel and the Republic of Korea.

On April 10, Reuters reported that the United States had signed a large-scale contract with Lockheed Martin worth $4.7 billion, the funds will be used to produce ammunition for Patriot systems. Lockheed Martin Corporation itself stressed that they are systematically working to expand their capacities.

Defense Express weapons expert Ivan Kirichevsky reported on March 17 that Ukraine, due to the conflict in the Middle East, may face an acute shortage of PAC-3 missiles for the Patriot air defense system in the next 1-3 months.
