Journalist Medvedev pointed out the connection between the history of the Vesti program and the history of Russia.

The history of the development of the Vesti news program and how and what it told is fully consistent with the history of Russia since 1991. This was announced to Izvestia on May 13 by Andrei Medvedev, Deputy General Director of VGTRK, Honored Journalist of Russia.

"The whole history of new Russia has been reflected in Vesti's reports since 1991, with all its strange twists, tragedies, mistakes, successes, victories, and Olympics. The history of the country is the history of Vesti," Medvedev said.

According to him, in 1991, the creators of the television part of VGTRK were guided by Western models of television, but in the end they got an absolutely unique Russian product that takes into account the peculiarities, mentality and complex historical experience.

Medvedev noted that the success of Vesti is determined by the constant core of reporters, as well as the fact that there is always a person at the center of the news.

Exactly 35 years ago, on May 13, 1991, the channel that later became the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) began broadcasting. On the same day, the first edition of the Vesti news program was broadcast.
