Telegram blocked more than 100 thousand channels and groups in a day.

During the day on May 12, Telegram blocked almost 101 thousand channels and groups around the world that violate its policy, according to statistics on the messenger's website.

As of May 13, since the beginning of 2026, the Telegram administration has blocked almost 15 million groups and channels. Over the past seven days, over 556,000 channels have been blocked on Telegram.

The most massive blockage in the messenger in the entire history of observations since December 2023 was on January 1, 2026. Then about 543 thousand groups and channels were blocked.

According to TASS calculations, the Telegram administration blocked 51% more channels and groups in the first quarter of 2026 than in the same period a year earlier. Last year, almost 2.7 times more channels and groups that violate its policies were blocked on Telegram than in 2024, more than 44 million.

On May 5, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow imposed administrative fines totaling 7 million rubles on the Telegram messenger for late deletion of information in accordance with the requirements of Russian legislation. The agency brought the messenger to justice under Part 4 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for a fine of 3 million to 8 million rubles for legal entities.
