Slutsky called "Sarmat" Russia's new move on the geopolitical board
The successful test of the Sarmat missile system has become a new geopolitical step by Russia, eliminating the possibility of issuing ultimatums from countries wishing to inflict a strategic defeat on the Russian Federation. This was stated by the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky.
"On the part of Russia, this is a new move on the geopolitical board, excluding the nomination of any ultimatums from all those who so wanted to see the "strategic defeat" of our country," Slutsky said in an interview with RIA Novosti on May 12.
According to Slutsky, the test of the complex puts Russia among the undisputed leaders in the field of missile technology and modern weapons. The parliamentarian also stated that the Oreshnik, Sarmat and Poseidon complexes protect the national interests and sovereignty of the country. In addition, he stressed that the development of such weapons is Russia's contribution to maintaining strategic stability and the global balance of power.
On May 12, Strategic Missile Forces Commander Sergei Karakaev announced the successful test launch of the Sarmat heavy intercontinental ballistic missile. The test results confirmed the correctness of the design and technological solutions, as well as the compliance of the missile system with the specified characteristics.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the Sarmat is the most powerful missile system in the world. According to the head of state, the total capacity of Sarmat is more than four times higher than that of any Western analogues.
