Khabarovsk authorities announced the stabilization of the situation with fires in the region

The situation with fires in the Khabarovsk Territory is gradually stabilizing. 14 forest fires were recorded in seven municipalities, four of them have already been localized. The situation is personally controlled by Governor Dmitry Demeshin.

As of May 13, wildfires have engulfed 11,000 hectares of forest in Khabarovsk, Komsomolsk, Amur, Nanai districts, Lazov district, Bikinsky and Solnechny districts. 368 people and 71 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing them. The situation with smoke in populated areas has also improved. The reason is a decrease in the number of fires and a change in wind direction. The Far Eastern Directorate for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring noted that north and northeast winds of up to 10 m/s are observed in Khabarovsk and some large municipalities.

Since May 12, the Khabarovsk Territory has been banned from visiting forests throughout the region.

Earlier, on May 6, it was reported that more than 500 wildfires had been extinguished in the Khabarovsk Territory since the beginning of the fire season. None of them posed a threat to human settlements. Since the beginning of May, more than 100 new fires have been recorded in the region. The fires were mainly in the Lazo area, Nanai and Khabarovsk districts. The total area of fires exceeded 54.3 thousand hectares.
