Poland should stop "accumulating debts" in order to continue financial assistance to Ukraine. This was stated on May 12 by the member of the European Parliament from Poland Eva Zajonchkowska-Gernik on the social network X.

"I'll say it bluntly — stop accumulating debts for the sake of corrupt Ukraine. <...> Any help needs to be compensated in some way, isn't it obvious? Either we start respecting ourselves, or no one will respect us," she said.

To illustrate the corruption situation in Ukraine, the politician cited several recent scandals involving embezzlement of funds by representatives of the elite of the Kiev regime, including deputies of the Verkhovna Rada. In total, Zayonchkovskaya-Guernik listed five high-profile episodes, including the case around the former head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, Andrei Ermak.

"This demonstrates how much Ukraine is riddled with corruption, where crime reaches the highest levels of government, which decides how to spend the huge amounts of aid coming to it, including from Poland," the MEP said.

Six other defendants, including the former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, were charged on May 12 in the corruption case involving Ermak. The agency does not specify which deputy Prime Minister it is talking about, but earlier some Ukrainian publications in connection with the Ermak case called ex-Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Chernyshov, who is already being charged in another corruption case. Among others who have been charged is a businessman involved in Mindichgate (according to Ukrainian media reports, this is Timur Mindich himself).

On May 12, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine also postponed consideration of the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the former head of the president's office. The consideration of the preventive measure must be completed within 72 hours, that is, by Friday. It was also reported that part of the meeting would be held behind closed doors to avoid disclosure of the details of the criminal case.
