The expert pointed out the Sarmat's ability to overcome any missile defense system.
The Sarmat strategic intercontinental missile is capable of reliably hitting targets on the territory of any enemy, even in conditions of advanced missile defense (ABM). Military expert Vasily Dandykin told Izvestia about this on May 12.
According to him, the Sarmat is equipped with separable individually guided warheads and can carry Avangard hypersonic gliding units, which have already been successfully tested.
"It is very difficult to shoot down a rocket at the start, and then these blocks are practically not shot down. They maneuver and, accordingly, at such a speed. Currently, there are no opportunities to destroy them," the expert stressed.
The Sarmat can also fly up to the target from both the north and the south, overcoming modern missile defense. Dandykin called the missile "a guarantee of Russia's peace and viability."
Military expert Alexey Zhivov reported on the same day that at the moment there are no comparable analogues of the Sarmat missile in the world. According to the expert, the Sarmat is a fundamentally new heavy missile created in Russia and designed to replace the Soviet Voyevoda system. He noted that the development is based entirely on Russian components and does not depend on the former Soviet industrial base outside the country.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, in turn, stressed that the Sarmat is the most powerful missile system in the world. According to the head of state, the total capacity of Sarmat is more than four times higher than that of any Western analogues.
