CBS News has learned about the preparation of a military memorandum between the United States and Ukraine

The U.S. State Department and Ukrainian Ambassador Olga Stefanyshina have prepared a memorandum outlining the terms of a potential new defense agreement between the two countries. This was reported on May 12 by the American television channel CBS News, citing sources.

"The project <... This is the first step towards a defense agreement that will allow Ukraine to export military technology to the United States and produce drones as part of joint ventures with American companies," the article says.

The authors of the material emphasize that during the war in Iran, Ukraine used innovations developed by the country's military and defense contractors over more than four years of conflict with Russia. Kiev has already sent interceptor drones and pilots to the Middle East to help US allies defend themselves against Iranian UAVs. It is noted that American officials expect possible cooperation to help open the Strait of Hormuz.

On May 11, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, while on a visit to Kiev, announced the launch of a joint production with Ukraine of long-range drones capable of covering distances up to 1,500 km. In addition, as reported by the UNIAN news agency, the parties signed a letter of intent regarding the implementation of the Brave Germany program. The project is aimed at developing defense technologies and supporting innovative start-ups.

On May 5, the European Commission (EC) announced the launch of a project dedicated to unmanned aerial vehicles within the framework of the EU–Ukraine alliance and the start of accepting applications for membership in its founding membership. The EC reported that in order to achieve these goals, they are looking for suitable candidates — legal entities with proven experience and knowledge in the field of defense drones and means of countering them in the European Union (EU) or in Ukraine.
