On May 12, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) published a new ranking of countries with the largest military expenditures.

The United States remains the country with the most spending on defense in 2025. The United States spent $954 billion in this industry over the past year.

"The expenditures approved by the US Congress for 2026 have grown to more than $1 trillion, which is a significant increase compared to 2025, and may grow even more to $1.5 trillion in 2027 if the latest draft budget of the President [of the United States Donald] is adopted. Trump," commented Nan Tian, director of the SIPRI program for military spending and arms production.

China is in second place with a spending volume of $336 billion. The third position was taken by Russia, where the resources spent on military purposes amounted to $ 190 billion.

The top ten countries with the highest defense budgets include Germany ($114 billion), India ($92.1 billion), Great Britain ($89 billion), Ukraine ($84.1 billion), Saudi Arabia ($83.2 billion), France ($68 billion), Japan ($62.2 billion).

On April 2, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin announced that NATO was continuing its targeted preparations for war. The countries of the North Atlantic Alliance bordering Belarus have increased their military spending four to five times and do not plan to stop there. The minister added that the actions of the Belarusian side to de-escalate the situation do not find a response from international partners, which confirms the West's bet on the realization of its interests by military means.
