The doctor spoke about the risks of early cataracts in zoomers due to smartphones
The younger generation, who actively use smartphones and other digital devices, primarily faces ophthalmological risks and the consequences of overloading the nervous system due to the constant use of screens. At the same time, sleep disorders, chronic stress and lifestyle associated with constant digital involvement become key risk factors. This was announced by cardiologist Branislav Bogunovich in an interview with Izvestia.
"Radiation from the screen, that is, eye overload, can lead to earlier cataracts after many years. And to reduce risks, it is important to reduce the brightness of the screen at night and control the time of device use," he said.
Speaking about cardiovascular diseases, the specialist stressed that they are rare at a young age, although individual cases of high blood pressure are possible. However, he did not name physical illnesses as the main problem, but behavioral factors — chronic fatigue, constant notifications and sleep disorders. The doctor noted that "the computer does not get tired, it warms up, and the person gets tired," emphasizing the cumulative effect of digital load.
The doctor paid special attention to the lifestyle of the Zoomer generation, noting that it is generally more conscious about health than previous generations. According to him, young people are more likely to monitor their diet and physical activity, but they remain vulnerable to constant digital involvement and stress. He stressed that these factors can manifest themselves in the long term, including possible consequences by the age of 30.
