The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has purchased 2,000 women's body armor

The Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has purchased 2,000 female models of body armor for the first time. This was reported by the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper on May 12, citing a report by the StateWatch analytical center.

"Women's body armor contains dampening inserts on the inner walls of the chest cover or other solutions that adapt it to the anatomy of women. The cost of one bulletproof vest is 23.5 thousand hryvnias, and the scientific and production enterprise Temp-3000 will be engaged in their delivery to the central and western regions by June 25," the report says.

It is noted that until May 2026, women's body armor was not supplied centrally to all units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The only exception was one of the military units of the National Guard of Ukraine, which in 2025 purchased 20 sets of female bulletproof vests of the 4th class of protection with lumbar and chest support.

In addition, according to StateWatch, in addition to bulletproof vests, the Logistics Command ordered 10,000 sets of winter uniforms for women, as well as women's thermal underwear — 50,000 sets each for the autumn and winter period.

According to the intelligence officer, women in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were directly at the front lines, and some of them were squad leaders and made command decisions.

On May 5, the deputy commander of a company of the Center group of forces with the call sign Kasyan reported that the number of women fighting in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was noticeably increasing in the Dobropolsky direction. According to the serviceman, most often women serve in mixed groups. He specified that it is often a question of groups of operators in which there are several men and one girl.
