Amir Ibragimov, an 18-year-old Manchester United midfielder born in Dagestan, has joined the expanded Russian national football team for the upcoming friendly matches in May and June. The Russian Football Union (RFU) announced this on its website on May 12.

Ibrahimov plays for the youth team of the English Manchester United. In April 2025, the footballer signed his first professional contract with the Manchester club. The midfielder has matches for the England national teams among players under 15 and 16 years old.

In total, the national team consisted of 36 players. In addition to Ibragimov, another Russian legionnaire, Alexander Golovin, has been called up to the team (he plays for French Monaco). It is noted that the star of the French PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov will not participate in these matches.

The RFU press service announced on April 27 that the Russian national football team will play Egypt, Burkina Faso and Trinidad and Tobago in late May and early June. The first game, according to the plan, will be held on May 28. On this day, Russian football players will play in Cairo with their Egyptian counterparts. The second one will be held on June 5 in Volgograd, where athletes from Burkina Faso will arrive, and the third one will be held on June 9 with representatives of the Trinidad and Tobago national team in Kaliningrad.
