A court in Moscow fined Telegram 3.8 million rubles.

The Tagansky District Court of Moscow has imposed administrative fines of 3.8 million rubles on the Telegram messenger. This was reported on May 12 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

The company was found guilty of late deletion of information in accordance with the requirements of Russian legislation under Part 4 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation. Under this article, legal entities face a fine of 3 million to 8 million rubles.

In February, the head of the Ministry of Finance, Maksut Shadaev, reported that the messenger had ignored 150,000 requests to delete information prohibited in Russia. This was the reason why Roskomnadzor decided to slow down the social network due to violations of the legislation of the Russian Federation.

Market participants expect an even greater tightening of the blocking of these messengers.

On May 5, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow imposed administrative fines totaling 7 million rubles on the Telegram messenger for late deletion of information in accordance with the requirements of Russian legislation. The messenger was prosecuted under Part 4 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for a fine of 3 million to 8 million rubles for legal entities.
